to my heart. There are several reasons why I choose to volunteer. To begin with, the act of
giving back to my community feels incredibly rewarding and never fails to remind me of the
good that people can accomplish when we work together. Through an act of service, everyone
has the opportunity to make a difference in their community, no matter how small it may
seem.
I have been actively volunteering since 2020 and it has been a crucial part of my life ever
since. I was part of the National Junior Honor Society throughout my 7th and 8th grade years
here at ASUPD. In my 8th grade term, I served as the president of this club and used this
opportunity to organize numerous fun activities for our members. This was a great
accomplishment for me. To demonstrate how much a student can make a difference, in the
2020/2021 school year, I completed a total 10 hours of service. The following year, as
president of our chapter of the National Junior Honor Society, I completed 41 hours of
service. I was able to take part in 11 different activities with various organizations across the
state.
Volunteering is a very important part of my life, and I would encourage anyone interested in
making a change to dedicate some of their time to a cause. Need some organizations to look
into? I, personally, have volunteered with several Arizona Organizations such as the
Foundation Fighting Blindness, Keep Tempe Beautiful, Palmcroft Clothing Company, Project
Smile, Friends of the Tonto, among others.
Volunteering has not only allowed me to make a positive impact on the world around me, it
has also helped me grow, as an individual. Through the selfless act of volunteering, I have
learned the importance of empathy and compassion and have gained a better understanding
of the struggles others face. Moreover, I have been able to meet so many people and feel
more connected to my community. Therefore, I highly encourage anyone looking to make a
positive impact in their community, or simply looking to meet new people, to dedicate some
time to a goal they are passionate about. There are plenty of organizations out there to
choose from, and volunteering is a great way to help make the world a better place.
