Here’s the way I stay motivated through burnouts and day-to-day tasks.

One of the first ways I stay motivated is by making lists. Lists help me a lot, even outside of school. Lists help by allowing me to see what I would like to do in a day or what I would like to get done within a certain time. But before you make your list super long and feel sad at the end of the day because you didn’t finish it, make sure you look at how long each assignment you’re trying to complete will take and create a realistic list to match it.

Another way I stay motivated is with timers. I set a timer depending on how motivated I feel, and after that timer is done, I take a break. During that break, though, I don’t scroll on my FYP. I normally clean up a little or read. Then, as I have more breaks, I slowly start to feel more motivated. Even if you don’t feel motivated, at least you got a little done, which is better than nothing. I normally just use the timer on my phone, but there are also YouTube channels like The ADHD Couple that make different timers almost every week.

The last way I stay motivated is with background sounds or music. What I listen to depends on what I’m working on and how I’m feeling that day. If I’m having a hard time getting started, I normally listen to fast-paced music to get me motivated to work. But if I’m just looking for some noise in the background, I will play some classical music. Also, if I’m feeling lonely, I will listen to my favorite streamers. I normally don’t listen to them at full blast—I usually set the volume to about 75% or 50%.
