Samantha Manering, an ASU Prep Digital middle school English teacher and member of the professional development team has been a part of the ASU Prep Digital family since its inception in the fall of 2017. She is proud to have witnessed the program’s exponential growth and success over the years.
Not only does Ms. Manering teach at ASU Prep Digital, but she also puts her trust in our school by enrolling all four of her children in summer math and reading enrichment courses. Ben, whom she describes as her pragmatic and mathematically minded eleven-year-old, flourished in a summer algebra course. So much so, that the current sixth grader is now enrolled in geometry through ASU Prep Digital while still attending the public school he knows and loves.
The family is happy with their local Illinois public school where Ben participates in band and the Gifted and Talented program. He also maintains an active social life, engages in piano lessons, attends summer sports camps, and plays for two baseball teams. The flexibility offered by ASU Prep Digital not only allows Ben to pursue his interests but also encourages him to think about his responsibilities and time management—essential skills for the new middle schooler.
When the Manerings recognized Ben would benefit from advanced opportunities beyond his current school, Ms. Manering did her research. “I just think that we offer a quality in our program that really, I haven’t found to be matched anywhere else.” she said “In enrolling Ben for their online classes, I knew it was not just going to be him working through a computer program by himself; rather, he has support from his teacher, Learning Success Coach, and tutoring options when needed.”
