What is Middle School Accelerated Math Pathways?
The ASU Prep Digital Middle School Accelerated Math Pathways program is designed to fast-track high-achieving learners through their middle school curriculum. By accelerating their learning pace, students can take high school-level math courses, such as Algebra 1, as early as 7th grade.
With this approach, we keep the middle school math curriculum intact, but students progress through it more quickly through summer courses or a condensed timeline within the academic semester. This ensures that each student receives the same foundational knowledge without creating gaps in their problem-solving or critical thinking skills.
Who is eligible?
Entry into Accelerated Math Pathways is by invitation only, ensuring every student is truly ready for the challenge. Eligibility is based on a comprehensive review of each student’s academic performance, including the following factors:
- Math grades over the past two or more years
- Benchmark scores from programs like Dreambox and Elevate Practice (EP)
- State test scores (AASA) over two years
- A final discussion with the Learning Success Coach, teacher and family
This selective process ensures that students with a strong mastery of math concepts can thrive in this environment. It’s important to note that once a student starts on the accelerated pathway, they can adjust if needed. Likewise, students who initially decline the program can revisit the option in the future.
