AZ Math Momentum

Boosting Math Performance

Math Momentum is an Arizona school math intervention program designed by ASU and the Arizona Department of Education to address math challenges faced by students in grades 5-9.

The program is designed to improve math mindsets and boost the math and digital literacy skills of students using data-driven interventions.

Statewide Impact via Math Momentum

By year two of the Math Momentum math intervention program, the Exact Path Diagnostic revealed the following results for students who remained in the program for the school year:

88% of students in rural settings maintained or grew their overall math proficiency level
93% of students in urban settings maintained or grew their overall math proficiency level
Every grade level exceeded Exact Path beginning-year to end-year growth goals

Partnering With Arizona Schools

The math intervention program provides any Arizona public school grades 5–9 with access to high quality math certified teachers and curriculum. Whether you have a qualified teacher that needs support, or you need a certified math teacher of record, ASU Prep Digital can customize a program to fill the gaps.

Schools are responsible for providing the following:

On-site learning facilitator(s) in the classroom(s)
Technology and internet access for students
Weekly interaction between on-site facilitator(s) and ASU Prep teachers

Math Teacher

ASU Prep Digital can provide a highly qualified math teacher who will work offsite and support students remotely.

Learning Success Coach

This support coach assists with program implementation, family engagement, student intervention and admin tasks.

Digital Curriculum

ALEKS Math and Exact Path adaptive software provide instruction at the right level for each student.

Professional Development

ASU Prep Digital offers training for onsite facilitators and ongoing professional development for math instructors.

Student Resources

Student resources are available to help scaffold and personalize learning for each student.

Teacher Resources

A library of training resources is available to help math teachers improve their instructional methods.

Implementation Options

Option #1 – Facilitator

This model is perfect for schools needing support that includes certified math teachers and digital curriculum.

It requires the school to provide a classroom facilitator. This can be a non-certified teacher or emergency-certified substitute. ASU Prep Digital provides a highly qualified online math teacher that can serve as the teacher of record. We also provide a learning success coach and all the digital materials needed for instruction, including ALEKS and Exact Path software.

Option #2 – Teacher + Content

This model is perfect for schools whose certified math teachers need additional support and digital curriculum.

It requires the school to provide a certified math teacher. ASU Prep Digital provides a highly qualified online math teacher for support and co-teaching. We also provide a learning success coach and all the digital materials needed for instruction, including ALEKS and Exact Path software.

Option #3 – Teacher Only

This model is perfect for schools whose certified math teachers need additional support but have their own digital curriculum.

It requires the school to provide a certified math teacher. ASU Prep Digital provides a learning success coach and highly qualified online math teacher for support and co-teaching. In this option the school chooses to use their own digital curriculum.
